(motivated by trying to sell to regulated financial entities)

as someone who has spent almost all her career working in financial services, most of the ideas i tend to tinker with has to do with solving personal pain-points

at bharatx, i wanted a one stop shop credit underwriting solution which was also intelligent, so i built it

at amex, i wanted a more efficient way to do generate error-free compliance reports, so i built it

financial services has the largest AI revenue pool they say, but i could barely scratch the surface of it

the pull is real they say, but all i could gather was most founders trying to push their solutions through almost bizarre means

if the pull is really real - why are founders shelling equity to so called internal champions to sell their solution. if the solution delivers real-value, does it need to be shoved down so hard

is the pull really real if founders largely perceive it as a GTM problem than a product problem. if one is really solving a BIG customer pain-point, how/why should it be a GTM problem

it disappoints me that selling in financial services has been popularised as a high-trust relationship game. the implicit understanding that the typical builder seller persona in the space is a 40 something male with 20+ years of banking experience makes for unlevelled playing field

how does one level the playing field here so that the value delivered by a great product built by a 20 something can be appreciated

as someone who gets excited by solving problems in the financial services space, but can barely move the needle with respect to selling, the urge to not build in the space anymore is real

financial services defies the conventional wisdom that a huge pain-point + a great solution is all one needs to build an enduring company

i’m genuinely perplexed if i’m picking up the wrong problem every single time, or is it just the insanely high barrier to entry in the ecosystem in general which makes things so tough

as i write this, i am almost on the verge of giving up on a problem i have been exploring for months now - just because i do not have top-level personal connects at Indian banks

i wish i could be more imaginative/creative w the GTM, but a part of me also believes that after all the extensive outreaches i have done in the past few months, it should have struck a chord w atleast someone, & if it has not then maybe I have gone horribly wrong w the problem selection
